I am Jim Russell, I became acquainted with Ken Martin some thirty years ago after I witnessed a high flying "V" of Canadas turn and set their wings to join us! Something about that call, perhaps science, perhaps magic, whatever it was I had to meet the man who made it.
I visited with Ken Martin at his home and He in turn visited with me. He explained his home of 30 years had 16 waterfowl blinds and attracting waterfowl was a required job skill.
He found most calls duplicated the sounds of birds in flight. Ken managed to duplicate the sound of birds when feeding. I have never found a call more attractive to flying birds!
We became friends and he first shared his production knowledge with me, showing me how he made his calls.

Later he taught me his exclusive technique for assembly and tuning his calls. I am not aware of any other living person with this training. A few years after Ken retired I purchased his equipment and remaining inventory of parts and materials. I can make genuine factory repairs on "KEN MARTIN CALLS" and keep the original qualities.
